Guardians and Minors
The platform supports guardian relationships to allow adults (18 years or older) to manage accounts and activities for minors (under 18 years old). This is essential for legal compliance, especially when signing waivers, purchasing tickets, and managing event participation for minors.
Overview
What is a Minor?
A minor is any user under 18 years of age. The system automatically determines if a user is a minor based on their birthday. Minors have certain restrictions:
- Cannot sign waivers themselves (a guardian must sign on their behalf)
- Cannot receive ticket transfers from non-guardians
- Must have an active guardian relationship to participate in any event
What is a Guardian?
A guardian is an adult user (18 years or older) who has been granted permission to manage a minor's account. Guardians can:
- Sign waivers on behalf of minors
- Transfer tickets to minors they are guardian for
- Manage the minor's participation in events
Guardian Relationships
Guardian relationships must be established and accepted before a guardian can manage a minor's account:
- Request: An adult requests to become a guardian for a minor
- Accept: The minor must accept the guardian request
- Active: Once accepted, the relationship is active and the guardian can manage the minor's account
- Revoke: Either party can revoke the relationship at any time

- Only active guardians can sign waivers for minors

Revoking a Guardian Relationship
If you need to stop being a guardian for a minor:
- Go to the Guardians page
- Find the minor in your "My Minors" list
- Click "Revoke" next to the minor's name
- Confirm the revocation
Once revoked, you will no longer be able to manage that minor's account or sign waivers on their behalf. The minor will need to accept a new guardian request if you want to re-establish the relationship.

- You can view the ticket details and use it for event check-in
Only guardians can transfer tickets to minors. Regular users cannot transfer tickets directly to minors.
Waiver Signing
As a minor, you cannot sign waivers yourself. A guardian must sign waivers on your behalf:
- When a waiver is required for an event, your guardian will need to sign it
- The guardian will use the "Sign as Guardian" option on your ticket page
- Once signed, you'll be able to participate in the event
Make sure you have an active guardian relationship before participating in any event. Guardians must sign waivers on your behalf for events that require waivers.
