Cash and Offline Ticket Payments

This guide explains how to give tickets to people who pay you in cash (or by check, bank transfer, etc.) and how to issue comp or free tickets. You can do both from your event’s Manage → Tickets page.

Overview

  • Cash / offline: Someone pays you outside the app (cash, check, etc.). You record that they paid and mark their ticket as paid in the app.
  • Comp tickets: You create a ticket and assign it to someone at no charge (or at a price you set). You can set the price to $0 for a free ticket.

In both cases, the platform fee (if your event has one) is paid by you, the organizer, not by the attendee. The app will prompt you to pay the fee when needed.

Option 1: Mark an existing ticket as paid (e.g. they paid cash)

Use this when a ticket already exists (for example they reserved online or you created it) and they have paid you in cash or by another method.

Single ticket: Verify payment

  1. Go to your event → ManageTickets.
  2. Find the pending ticket.
  3. Click Verify payment.
  4. Optionally add notes (e.g. “Cash received”, check number).
  5. Submit. If there is a platform fee, you’ll be asked to pay it; after that, the ticket is marked paid.

Multiple tickets: Mark selected as paid

  1. Go to your event → ManageTickets.
  2. Select the pending tickets that have been paid.
  3. Click Mark selected as paid.
  4. All selected tickets are marked paid. (Bulk flow does not collect platform fee per ticket.)

Option 2: Create a ticket and assign it (comp or pre-arranged cash)

Use this when you want to create a ticket in the app and assign it to someone (comp or someone who will pay you cash later).

  1. Go to your event → ManageTickets.
  2. Click Create ticket.
  3. Enter the assignee’s email, optional seat (if you use a seating chart), ticket price (you can set $0 for a comp), and any custom fields.
  4. Submit. A pending ticket is created. If there is a platform fee, you’ll be prompted to pay it; after you pay, the ticket is marked paid. If there’s no platform fee, you can leave it pending or later use Verify payment to mark it paid.

Who pays the platform fee?

For cash, comp, or any ticket that isn’t paid online by the attendee, you (the organizer) pay the platform fee. The attendee is not charged. The app will show the fee step when needed.

Quick answers

QuestionAnswer
Can I accept cash for tickets?Yes. After you receive the cash, use Verify payment (single) or Mark selected as paid (multiple) on the event’s Tickets page.
Who pays the platform fee for cash tickets? The organizer. The app will prompt you to pay the fee before the ticket is marked paid (or when creating a comp/cash ticket).
I created a comp ticket; why am I being asked to pay?The platform still charges a platform fee for comp tickets. You pay that fee so the ticket can be marked paid.
Can I add a note when I mark a ticket as paid?Yes. When using Verify payment, there’s an optional “Payment verification notes” field (e.g. “Cash received”, check number).
